Dear Patients,

As many of you will know, on 19th February 2022 we lost our dear Professor James Malone-Lee, founder of Artemis Cystitis Limited. This came as a shock to us all.

It would be hard to overstate the impact that his devotion to medicine and Chronic UTl research has made to the lives of those who suffer from this condition. Even in his final weeks of life, Prof remained dedicated to ensuring that the clinic would carry on, so that our patients could access their essential treatment. We promised him that we would continue to promote better recognition and understanding, of chronic urinary tract infection.

We have encountered challenges over the last two years, however The Artemi Cystitis Team continues to provide a high-quality specialist care service for our patients.

Staff News

In November, we welcomed Lab Scientist, Mr. Senthil Subramaniyam, our newest member of the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Laboratory processes.

Last month, we were delighted to welcome back our Operations Manager, Martel Daley-Peart, from her maternity leave. She has hit the ground running, working hard on many exciting areas of future development of Artemis Cystitis.

As some of you may know, Dr. Matthew Malone-Lee also welcomed a beautiful baby girl this month. She is a wonderful addition to the Malone-Lee family.

Clinic Information

We are proud of our high standards of care. One of the services that sets our clinic apart from others is the clinical email service, which allows our patients to get urgent advice about their treatment, monitored 7-days a week by the doctors. We feel this is such an important part of our care and work extremely hard to maintain it, despite the high volume of emails daily.

The email service is there for emergencies, adverse drug reactions, failed efficacy, blood test results, and prescription requests. We ask all our patients to keep the emails short and succinct and save all general enquiries for clinic consultations. It is always a good idea to check the written documents (advice on saving costs) and previous clinical correspondence, to see if the query has already been addressed.

We would also like to stress how important it is that blood tests for liver and kidney function are checked every four months while on long-term antibiotics. We would like to log the results on our database, so we would appreciate a copy of these sent to us by email. For safety reasons, we may only issue a repeat prescription if we have the results of a satisfactory blood test within the last four months. Please allow at least a week’s notice when requesting a repeat prescription.

As a private clinic, we endeavour to maintain a balance between excellent service and reasonable pricing. Over the past few years, we have absorbed increases in our rent and supplier costs in an effort to minimize the impact on our patients. Much as we would like to do the same this year and keep prices static, unfortunately, that isn’t sustainable. As a result, we must inform you of upcoming changes in our fees.

The changes will take effect from 1st July 2024. There will be a slight increase in the fees for our services. We understand that any adjustment can be concerning, and we want to assure you that we have carefully considered this decision. Our priority remains providing you with exceptional care, and this adjustment will enable us to continue doing so sustainably.

The pricing changes are as follows:

  • Initial Consultation, face-to-face or remote, £275 per 30-minute consultation.
  • Follow-up Appointments, face-to-face or remote, £225 per 30-minute consultation.

There will be no change to the following items:

  • Email consultations for emergencies and adverse drug reactions: £50.
  • Urinalysis (Pee and Flee): £75 – Please note this is not a consultation, a clinician will write to you with your results.
  • There is no charge for receiving and reviewing of Blood Results and issuing repeat medications.

We value the trust you have placed in us, and we want to be transparent about this change. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to continuing to serve you and provide the care you deserve.
